Who will Takeo choose, Suna or Yamato?
Warning: Spoilers ahead!
Takeo waited for Suna to come down their apartment complex and tried cheer him up despite having a previous engagement with his girlfriend. Its sad to see Suna push his BFF away but logically, what he says is true, Takeo won’t be able to do much — he would rather wallow in loneliness alone rather than with someone else.
So Takeo met with Yamato, who was late for about 3 hours — mainly because she got so excited that she woke up early and slept again. Like in the list, Takeo followed the list while mentioning the memories of the places with Suna.
Unfortunately, when it was 2PM, Takeo wasn’t able to keep it any longer and confessed to Yamato about Suna’s father in the hospital. Yamato urged Takeo to go to Suna as he needs him the most and agreed to enjoy the day as the tickets for the planetarium are already paid.
Takeo arrived at the hospital and hilariously, the nurse thought that he was one of the father whose wife has just given birth. When Suna saw Takeo, he had remarked that he had a feeling that he wouldn’t be able to stay away.
It was then revealed that Suna was feeling guilty about his father’s latest predicament as he was supposed to go home at once and if he wasn’t dilly-dallying, they he would’ve been in the house by the time his father collapsed. He was ashamed that he had unconsciously done this to his father and regretted his actions.
Takeo informed him that nobody is blaming him for what happened, in which Suna cried because of his friend’s reassurance.
It was then the doctor arrived and with Takeo heavy-handedness, was able to extract that the surgery was a success. It was also then Suna’s mother and sister arrived and pestered the doctor for the result.
As they arrive in the hospital lobby, they was surprised to see Yamato sitting in one of the chairs and folding paper cranes. If you don’t know, in Japan, when someone is sick, you can wish them well by folding 100 paper cranes and giving it to them. Well, that was what Yamato was attempting to do but wasn’t able to finish.
Suna was so grateful about everything that he had said that their relationship is ‘nice’ — which urged the couple in thinking that Suna is ready for a relationship and planning on who they would introduce to him.
The episode really defines the respect of the protagonists to each other. Suna was respectful of the couples relationship that’s why he would rather be left alone, than sharing the burden — and maybe add to the fact that he feels guilty about what happened. Takeo respects Suna enough to keep the situation from Yamato and was respectful about Yamato to tell him what was wrong in the first place. And lastly, Yamato as respectful enough to urge Takeo to go to Suna as she knows that it was as important as her birthday.
I love the fact that they project an ideal relationship and I do hope people who are in a relationship will be able to get some tips into handling difficult situations such as this.
