And the journey begins!
Warning: Spoilers ahead!
The episode starts with Ik-su asking for a favor, that Yona and Hak should bring Yun with them in their travels.
Yun is such as Tsundere when he gave Yona a new dress, telling her that he only has left over cloth that’s why he did what he did. Yona thanked him and also asked him to even out her hair.
Secretly, Yona talked to Ik-su about his request and she had decided that unless Yun said that he wanted to go with them, she will not break his family apart. Unfortunately, nothing escapes the perceptive Yun, and listened to them without them knowing.
It angered Yun that Ik-su wanted him to go and confronted the priest about it, in a very physical way of course. One would think that they are lovers quarreling and Ik-su finally asked him to go with them.
Still angry about the exchange, Yun then reminiscence the day he met the priest. It was shown that Ik-su is a very self-sacrificing individual who would help anyone who needed help. Apparently, Ik-su saved him before he killed anyone and learned a livelihood by making straw sandals.
Because of the things that happened, when Ik-su returned, he told Yun that he will be going far away and will never return. It was then Yun decided to come with Ik-su and be with him.
And this scene makes my fujoushi feelings tingle.
After a small talk with Ik-su and proving that he can take care of himself, Yun decided to come with Yona. It was a hard decision to make but it was a decision that he made wholeheartedly.
This episode gave the background of both Yun and Ik-su, albeit a little longer than necessary, it still added a few dimensions for both characters. It was refreshing that there is an episode that does not feature either Yona or Hak, or their love-hate relationship. But one will wonder if the story will be completed as they haven’t found the first of the four dragons yet and it is already in the eight episode already.
Time will tell, I suppose.
