Avengers: Age of Ultron is the much anticipated movie of the year and it rocks, but not without any slight disappointments.
Warning: Spoilers ahead!
The movie starts with a fight as The Avengers charge in one of the Hydra’s last stronghold where one of their sought after villains is hiding. It was then shown the staff of Loki which I am not sure how they had gotten a hold of it — most prolly by one of their spies. It seems that they have been experimenting, not only the scepter but also a couple of people that they call twins. Yes, it’s Scarlet Witch and Quick Silver in the house! Ultimately, the twins have displayed their power by almost killing Hawk Eye in battle.
Once they were resting in the facility, Tony Stark is still affected with Scarlet Witch’s power, decided to use the gem in Loki’s scepter and create an AI called Ultron. Of course it backfired as the AI is not what he thinks it would be and tried to kill everyone with it.
Thus, the hunt for Ultron is initiated by the team and managed to screw everything in Wakanda because of Scarlet Witch’s power over Hulk. They managed to escape and hide in Hawk Eye’s hidden life a.k.a. his family. Who knew that Hawk Eye has a wife, 2 kids and another on the way? Well, it was a surprise to everyone except Black Widow because they are close like that.
Nick Fury show his face as well and helping Tony to come into terms with his fears — which was the basis of Scarlet Witch’s power.
Meanwhile, with the aid of Korean doctor, Ultron was able to almost create a human body and was in the process of transferring his consciousness when Scarlet Witch read what really is in his mind as he is partly human. It showed her what he ultimate plan, which is to eradicate the whole human race and force it to evolve as he sees fit.
The twins were shocked at the extent of Ultron’s plan, they escaped together but not without removing Ultron’s power over the Korean doctor — which led to pausing the transfer of his consciousness. The Avenger’s then decided to show up and rock his boat, which forced Ultron to flee the vicinity. And with the help of the twins, they had managed to steal the body and lessen the casualties that was caused by the fight.
The body was then taken to where Tony and Bruce was waiting and Tony yet again convinced Bruce into doing what he wants to be done. Bruce is a spineless man when he isn’t Hulk, isn’t he? As the fight ensues because Captain America brought the twins along (since they helped and all; and the captain is a nice man), Thor appeared out of nowhere and brought the body to life. And now we have Vision and proved to be worthy to be with them by lifting Thor’s Mjolnir. Oh, the gem on its forehead is one of the Infinity Gems needed for the Infinity Gauntlet — /le gasp
So they went back to where the movie first started and fought legions of Ultron’s clones. With the help of Nick Fury, they have managed to evacuate the rest of the towns people who were stuck in the floating town. Unfortunately, Quick Silver died by saving Hawk Eye and a kid from being shot at by a helicopter piloted by Ultron. As everyone escaped, they broke the floating town into pieces, they had managed to save the world yet again.
As usual, everyone except Black Widow and Captain America left their headquarters to train the newly recruited team. And mid-credits shows Thanos holding the Infinity Gauntlet devoid of the gems that he needs.
The movie in itself was entertaining that it was surprising that it was playing for more than two hours. It was full of action and fighting with one another because of their ideals and differences — plus Scarlet Witch’s power. There were comedic parts that weren’t over the top and makes you see their human side, as if how normal people interact with their friends.
Unfortunately, one of the downsides is that you have to watch the other individual movies to trully appreciate it. But it also entices people in buying the DVD so that they can understand what they are missing — which makes up awesome marketing plan of Marvel.
One of the disappointments is about Ultron’s origin, which is supposed to be Hank Pym (Ant Man), not Tony Stark. But since his movie is a little delayed and all, my guess is that the script was tweaked so that Ultron will have its debut with or without it original creator. It seems that Iron Man is the new Wolverine in the Marvel universe, that everything is centered always to him and not to anyone else.
Another one of my disappointments, albiet a little bias, is that they let Quick Silver die! Gah. All of the sequences already points to Hawk Eye’s death. /cries But I do like Hawk Eye too! /sighs
Now on for my theories on what will happen in future installments of the movie:
- Hawk Eye’s family might have a bigger role in the next installment of the franchise. Remember the Ultimates?
- Bruce will go back to his first love, with is Betty Ross. Sorry Black Widow, I prefer you with Hawk Eye.
- The rest of the Infinity Gems will appear in the Ant Man and Guardians of the Galaxy 2.
- Hoping to have Enchantress in any of the movies with Thor.
- Thor: Ragnarok will be the part where Thanos meets Death — as one of the worlds is ruled by her. It can serve as a catalyst for the next movie.
- The Civil War chapter will kill Captain America and Bucky will be the next Captain America. Hey, Black Widow, maybe you can have him instead. 😛
- Vision and Scarlet Witch will have a relationship and without Quick Silver to protest, it might an easy courtship that can either lead to disaster or a happily ever after.
Overall, the movie is exciting and prompting viewers to delve more in the lives of the super heroes or maybe watch the previous movies of the franchise. It is interesting to see how everything will fit in the Infinity War considering there will be a lot of characters involved.
