Don’t judge a book by it’s cover.
Warning: Spoilers ahead!
A fairy tale is told about a Red ogre who was kind and yet humans are afraid on approaching him because of his features. With the help of the Blue ogre, he managed to befriend the humans he wanted.
Enter Gouda Takeo, a recently graduated junior high-school student who were loved by his peers because of his abilities but women don’t find him appealing. It is mainly because he is huge as an ogre and not good looking to begin with.
His best friend is a bishounen named Sunakawa Makoto, nicknamed Suna. They have been friends since forever as their mothers are friends and they live in the same apartment building.
It seems that there is a pattern in their relationship. All the girls that Takeo likes, they confessed their feelings to Suna after a while. And everytime each of the girls confessed their undying love to Makoto, he turned them all down. My theory is that Suna is doing that as a sort off revenge to the girls who seemed to just befriend Takeo just to get close to Suna. While Takeo is naive enough to believe that the girl likes him as a friend, Suna is clearly looking out for him.
Oh, did you know that Suna only laughs when Takeo is with him? /fujoshigrin
So, one day, as they were riding the train, Suna alerted Takeo of a sketchy guy in the train. Upon closer inspection, the guy was clearly touching the highschooler’s backside. Enraged, Takeo grabbed the man’s hand and questioned his actions.
Of course, the girl was beautiful and thanked Takeo in helping her. Now, the love triangle begins.
Due to his rash behavior in the police station, he was then suspended in school. The girl she has rescued previously has come to his house to say thanks and introduced herself as Yamato.
As Suna tries to go home as smoothly as possible, Yamato-san asked him to stay as she had brought them a thank you gift. Takeo thinking that she was there to see Suna again, he resigned himself to just enjoy the present.
After Yamato and Suna left together, Takeo was happy that at least he had a cake even if the love is unrequited. Luck has it that Yamato forgot her phone in Takeo’s room. They had agreed to meet with each other the next day in a park.
Takeo wants to help Yamato get to know Suna as she seems to be a nice girl, so he brought along Suna with him. To further help her, he asked Yamato to bake them more pastries. Because of this, Yamato asked for Takeo’s email so that they can contact each other.
It was funny that Takeo had thought that Yamato likes Suna, when in fact that she likes him in return. I guess he had been conditioned to think that no girl will like him the way he is and only wants to be close to Suna. My theory will also develop feelings as well and it will form the love triangle.
This is a very promising anime and I would love to see Takeo getting what he deserves and his love reciprocated.
