Ooooh! Manhandling action by Hak! Go get her!
Warning: Spoilers ahead!
The episode opens with Hak sifting through the weapon warehouse. It seems that he has a plan and it does not involve bringing Yona along for the ride. What will she do when she founds out? Let’s find out shall we? 😀
Because of the restrictions that the Fire tribe are doing with the merchant coming in and out of the Wind tribe’s domain, Heang-dea is forced to travel fast to get Tae-yeon’s medicine as he is a very sickly child.
With so many things in her mind, Yona absently follows where Heang-dea is dragged to rest. She was shocked to learn that all the merchants who were willing to travel to the Wind Tribe’s village are seriously injured. It was one of the scenes that made her open her eyes that she shouldn’t be the sheltered girl that she used to be.
With determination, she said good-bye to Tae-yeon and went in search of Hak to take her with him. Unfortunately, Hak was determined to leave her behind and I am speculating because of two things: 1 – Because he loves Yona and he doesn’t want to see her hurt; and 2 – she can potentially slow him down.
Yona doesn’t wants him to leave without her and with careful / romantic words, After much deliberation, Hak is then convinced to bring her with him. Ugh, Yona, can’t you see Hak is head over heels in love with you? >.<
Mun-deok has advised them to go to the mountains and find someone that will help them in their journey.
In another side of the world, remember Tae-jun? The son of the Fire Tribe who made a pass on Yona and Hak protected her from him? Well, he found out that Yona and Hak are on the move. Still infatuated with Yona, he thinks of himself as a savior of hers and decided to bring her back.
While travelling, Hak had noticed that an army is coming his way and then figured out that it was from the Fire Tribe. Hak then demonstrated his prowess as the Thunder Beast and beat up majority of the oppressors.
But, Hak get’s wounded by an arrow that was targeting Yona. Despite all of that he continues to fight and Yona is safely hidden somewhere close to where Tae-jun is planning to kill Hak with another arrow. After an internal struggle, she decided to follow her instincts and went out of cover to prevent Hak’s death.
Tae-jun tried to talk to Yona into coming with him back to the castle. Yona refused and was appalled that Tae-jun was so selfish that he did not even stopped to think that there might be an underlying reasons why she doesn’t want to return. It also is the time that Tae-jun realized that the Yona he knew in the castle is not the Yona that is standing before him.
I love this episode as it really solidifies the fact that Yona can’t function without Hak and Hak in turn is weak against Yona’s requests. Yona really grew in this episode, as someone who would want to stand on her feet and stopped playing the innocent, ignorant princess card.
