Such beautiful Merman~

Orenchi no Furo Jijou (オレん家のフロ事情) or roughly translated as The Circumstances in My Home’s Bathtub is an anime with 4-minute episodes that talks about a boy named Tatsumi housing a merman called Wakasa. Eventually, Wakasa’s friends invade the bathroom ranging from an octopus to a hermit crab. And to top it all off, all of the scenes are done in Tatsumi’s bathroom. Despite the small space, everyone fits and hangout there.

Wakasa is your typical naive character who seems to be asking a lot from Tatsumi. We tend to excuse his naivety because he lived under the water and he doesn’t know the ways of being human. Fortunately, Tatsumi is a kind kid and tries to help Wakasa as much as possible.

Why did he left his world in the first place? Well, it wasn’t tackled in the 1st episode. Episode 1 focuses of how Tatsumi first met Wakasa and the start of their strange relationship.

Watch as Wakasa expertly ignores Tatsumi’s questions

Yaoi fans like me might be interested in watching this series as there are a lot of innuendos that will piqued the our fans interest. This includes Wakasa and Tatsumi taking a bath together and the concern that Tatsumi is giving Wakasa despite just meeting for the first time.

It funny that despite Wakasa’s naivety, he has a lot of demands and makes it a point to do a pity-party for himself when Tatsumi is being rough on him.

The episode is a great start for the anime and it was good that they just limit it to an episode to a short amount of time. The script writing is direct but funny, always focusing on Wakasa’s unending requests of hamburger and floral scented bath salts. Can’t this golden-haired merman be any vain-er? Wait for a few more episodes and you’ll know.

The story itself is pretty light, a contrast to the anime’s opening song where they used rock music to display all the characters in the series. And there’s an additional scene while the credits are rolling which is pretty much tied up to the next episode.

So stay tuned for the other episodes of this anime as I try to review them one by one.
